Setting up emails using your domain
If you’re running your own small business, your customized email address will reflect your identity, just like your business card and letterhead. In fact, your email address is your most important “calling card” – it lets potential clients know you’re well-established and professional.
Having an email address like ngozi.nwosu@yourwebsite.com is better than using gmail and yahoomails. So this is how to achieve it.
Register a domain name
First register a domain name. You can do it locally with any domain registration and hosting company in Nigeria. The good thing about using a Nigerian registrar is that they will accept Naira.
Choose either .com, .net, .org or any of the tld(top level domain). You can also register .ng or just .com.ng some domains may not be available on .com or .net but will be on .com.ng or just .ng
Set up email
Once you have a Domain Name, you’re ready to create your own email addresses. All you need is access to your cpanel(username and password) which your registrar will supply you if you didn’t register directly yourself.
- Go to your www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel
- A box appears to insert your username and password on a box that appears looking like this
- When you are in the cpanel, click on Email AccountsÂ
- Enter the email you wish to create and the password. choose the size (its set on default 250MB). You can set to unlimited if you will be getting large mails on that account
- Your email is setup
